Hopeful Friday 6/16/06

Section head text.

It’s anonymo-licious!

Harlem

Bonus for picking which field James Joseph picks to race in.

4/5 – Juniors

Accardi will try to ride an ITT, Mecray would like a sprint, Garcia would like a break.

Masters

Of course, there’s the Motor, and Settel. Does Carbonara ever miss a break?

The old guys are too smart to let it come down to a field sprint.

3/4

LaCorte, Loudon, Prokopec, Rivera, and Uglietta the sprinters? Accardi, Schmalz, Pichler, and Nelessen to break it up?

Might be the only “breaks” in this race will be the ones used in a blinding panic. Will the fast twitchers sprint it out?

Women

Looks like a laughing lady here…

123

Wow, this is going to be fun. Pollo hasn’t been racing much. Will JCM miss the start while body slamming Schmalz? Molloy, Rahn, King should make it quite a sprint. Loehner and the Motor practically teammates by now. United, Sakonnet, Champion will all be hammering away.

Will some random pro will take the money and run? Check the flights from Australia…

Funhouse mirror optional.

Housatonic

Oy. Let’s just wish our juniors the best of luck. Blue Ribbon well represented in the 3’s, ADM always in the mix. You-know-who in the masters. Harris/Wilkins a strong combo in the 4’s. All Z’s in the 123’s with Zoltan, Zenoni, and Zmolik. Vision blurring… Best of luck to the NYVC ladies… If I keep going I’m just going to make dumb puns with strangers’ names.

Special contest this week: Last year, the announcer at Harlem called a Colavita woman ‘Olive Oyl’. What hilarious malaprop will we hear this year? Winner gets something useless, and Mike Margarite gets a dog humping cat shirt to wear to church.

how late do we have to sign up for the 3/4 at harlem for day of registraton? trying to make i back in time from housatonic.

Don’t forget the Adler boys at Housatonic. Olsen, O’Malley, Riseth and Waugh will be representing. Not a bad foursome.

Prspect Park Race Saturday

Don’t forget about Saturdays Prospect race. The local Island boys will be out dodging NYC Parks trucks, trash trucks, dog walkers, roller bladers, local tri-to-be athletes on their TT rigs, and elderly walkers which is always fun for a few laughs.

Cock

If its a clean sprint in the Harlem 3/4’s it’ll be interesting to see who comes out top between Loudon and Uglietta, both sprinting well this season.

Daniel

O’maille from Adler vs. Rufus from Kissena in Housatonic.
Rufus has been blazing up Alpine d’Huez.
Go juniors- DEFEND Harlem!

15 minutes before race time for each race.
If the race time is 2:30, reg closes at 2:15.

If you are on line at 2:15, you can be shut out. We cannot delay the races. Assume that registration will close 15 minutes before the start, not that you can get on line 15 minutes before the start.

Is anyone headed to the Iron Hills Crit in West Chester? Its 2.5 hours away, starting at 4p for me. I live in Manhattan and can help with gas.

Pro/1/2/3 gets tougher with entry of Davide Fratini and Greg Wolf.
Received email saying they will be there.

James Joseph wins the 3 race (in a field sprint), Big Ken wins the 35 plus in a solo breakaway, Jason Snow wins the main event in a sprint from a small group

Victor--Kissena

Congrat to Rufus taking 1 st place in the 4s, Housatonic. Putting 20sec+ to the main group on the finishing climb.

Housatonic – my first experience. All I can say is the yellow line rule with 100+ riders was very messy. I found myself constantly bridging gaps until finally on the KOM, my last bridging effort, burned the final match in the book.
Done…on the first lap and it was friggen busted hot!

We had a turnout of 275 at Harlem up from 135 last year. Thanks to everyone for helping to revitalize this race. Special thanks to Dan and the whole nyvelocity crew and to Richard Reyle and Merrill team, Deutsche Bank Team, Bruce Weyman and JT Tomlinson for the special help you all gave to make this race happen.

Never wrote the yellow line rule caused my getting shelled. The heat and the course did fine in that the dept.
Everytime a vehicle went by on the opposite side there was a ripple in the field which alot of guys handled wierdly. @ Blueberry they had a moto-police riding along the side and front to momentarily stop and pull aside vehicles. There was such a police presences @ housatonic that I thought they would do the same.
