So, Schmalz mails it in last week and gets a million hits. That’s it! I’m not trying any more.
Two million races over the weekend, who knows what happened? A manhole appears out of the blue on the final lap, takes out a rider who takes out Oscar Gamble’s collarbone.
Marco will have Somerville shots soon.
Two Hills of Somerset pics from the Motor:
Two Syracuse pics from Hungry:
And a pair of stickers to whoever figures out the significance of this shot:
And one more from Henoch of Lancaster, PA.
There’s a dude in a dress and another in a red skirt, spreading his legs while ruining what would have been a manly, testosterone-filled shot — first guys in drag to make NYVC?
I saw some Velocity guys at the Syarcuse race, any pics?
those who know him, and many do, will laugh that his gold medal in the Gay Games is the first thing that pops up. Nothing to do with anything on this page, I just had mention it.
I heard Jon Clifton Moore won the cat 2 race at Sommerville with K Molloy 2nd. Not sure if it’s true — sounds too close to last year’s results. Capala won the juniors in Hartford on Sunday. S Badger was a player in 30+ and 1-2-3 there.
I’m not sure who won the cat 2 race, but K Molloy was second there.
Jon Clifton Moore did win the Cat 2.
Molloy was second.
Chris Ruhle of Sakonnet was in top 10. Craig Cook was
10 and Stephen Badger 11. Matt Howard just missed getting in the money at 22.
Juan Pimental got 2nd in Cat 3.I think Gabe Lloyd of Remax was in top 5 in Cat 3.
Sakonnet rode well in Pro/1, not sure of final placings.
Also, Wonder Wheels Luzio and Rafferty we up there in the Syracuse 40+ RR and crit — with Rafferty on a long break in the RR and Luzio 2nd in the crit. The 1-2 fields there were stupidly small. They should have this race on another weekend if they want 1-2 riders to show up.
Saturday crit: Liz Seward had a great ride, about 10 laps on her own 15 seconds behind the break, hung on for 5th. Kimille Taylor soloed out of the field with 3 to go for 6th.
Saturday RR: Michael Sherry was 9th or 10th, just behind David Wiswell of Sakonnet.
significance –
Those guys look like mountain bikers…
I heard that Mike Sherry was going out west to do a mountain bike race with Smiley…
So, Mike and Smiley are in the photo?
First pic from an MTB race on NYvelocity?
Okay – so how many people saw the ATROCIOUS padding wrapped around trees and signposts and the like in BoundBroook? Seriously – they wrapped the obstacles with blankets and duct tape; the best that would do to help out a crashing bike racer is to cover the body or to sop up the blood.
And what about Saturday’s race? Did you see the rusty metal sign completely uncovered right at the outgoing apex of Turn 3? Terrifying.
Is there someplace we can tell the promotors that HAY BALES are the only thing that protects riders from snapping spines on trees and signposts when flying through corners at 30 mph?
My buddy Jon Warchol who just started racing this year who I beleive will continue to dominate in the 4s and later this year in the 3s took 2nd at the syracuse races this weekend overall. The kid is a real power house. Def. someone to watch
Ding ding ding ding ding! Jeff, send me your address. Those stickers better be on your bike the next time I see you.
It is a shot of the team winners in the race.
Also, a note on Kevin Molloy. Here is a guy that is always in the right spot at the right time. Big results. And in hard races, too. Park Ridge last year. He says he trains with Loehner and wants to quit racing each time. I say, I watch Kevin and want to quit, too.
Yeah, I got 5th at Somerville. Did too much work and started the sprint too early.
4th at Bound Brook. Happier with that since it was a field sprint.
Glad to hear you placed well this weekend Gabe. I can tell you – I had a shot at a place Saturday and would have been with ya on Sunday and Monday if people knew how to take turns! I am out till Mid July.
Gabe, Great job at Somerville but you lead everyone out in the sprint. We watched you start it from the corner with everyone sitting on your wheel. I think you could have done much better if not won the break sprint if you played it smarter. The only thing is to try and learn from your mistakes, which I do everyrace, that is make mistakes. But great job none the less!
Filip Capala actually had two wins this weekend — one also on Saturday, I believe. I think Mara Miller got 20th at Bike Jam in the women’s Pro/1/2/3 race. Nice job. It looks like it was pretty much the same cast of characters as Somerville. I’d be great to see a race report on that. Congrats to Liz and Kimilie for their Saturday results.
Went to watch Somerville but I couldn’t quite make out how our local women finished — too many heads and cameras in the way at the line. Are results up anywhere?
Sorry Ray to hear about your collarbone. I hope you have a quick recovery.
when did the poll switch from "anonymously" to "posthumously"?
It was my doing…
Where are Marco’s Pictures? I saw him running around Somerville in a full press outfit.
Hey Ray sorry to hear about your incident man, thanks for the help at the Springfield Race…
Hope to see you back on the bike soon!!!
What’s up with Cosmo these days? Maybe a slight tummy ache from eating all of that "Ullrich" crow from the Giro perhaps đ
ouch, sorry to hear it, ray. painful injury, but you’ll be back before long–i did mine at thanksgiving and was riding outdoors before new years. stock up on dvd’s and get on the trainer. and it may finally be time to shave the mop off–you’ll sweat less working out indoors, and you won’t be washing it (by yourself, anyway) anytime soon without lots of pain…
NYveloCity.com’s team did all right at the Syracuse Race Weekend, finishing 13, 17, 18, 20, and 28 overall in the 4/5s. Results from the three stages and the GC are at the following web address:
http://syracuseraceweekend.com/
There was also a race on Saturday in Lancaster.
Great racing out there, it’s like Floyd with hills. Wind coming at you
from every direction.
Also small fields, in the 3’s (which I did) some guy was at the front
pulling for the first 10 laps until he broke away for a solo win, we
later find out that he is a pro Mt Biker riding for Trek VW, now
talk about a sandbagger, forget James Joseph, this guy was killing
us, I think only 20 guys finished the race.
in the 1/2 race Guillin Nelson and some PA guy took off at the gun, and
stayed away for the whole race, Sakonet had 4 guys but couldn’t bring them back, there were
also a couple of guys from Gotham, that
race was even crazier, I think that less then 15 guys finished.
Anyhow great racing up that way.
