In our never ending quest for ways to make you do our work for us, we present our latest weekly feature – Hopeful Fridays, the good twin of the Monday Hangover. Because hope springs eternal on Friday, before we’ve had our hats handed to us over the weekend.
Post your predictions for the weekend, talk some ill-advised smack, tell us where you’re racing, and most importantly, anonymously tell us who’s getting dropped.
Did Katie Lambden win the women’s Fleche Wallone?
Cherry Blossom Challenge (Branchbrook)
More categories than you can shake a stick at, very few riders registered. All we can say is Gisler in the P123. Other than that, we’ve got absolutely nothing.
Spring Series (Prospect)
My brain hurts.
CRCA Harlem Hill Points Race
Laughing Ladies against Margaret Shirley again? We see Shirley in a Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert sandwich. No, make that a Sauvayre/Ulrich sandwich. Or a Snowman Moses/Gale sandwich. No, a Koh/Johnson/Roberts CLUB sandwich…
Edgemont still giddy after their first beer. Hungry and Slokar will be marked, look out for ‘Que Sera’ Serra. Will Adler ride for O’Malley or Ugly? Gipp or Goodstein for Metro? Will King give way to Semel and Cohen for VB? How well does Justin Brown go uphill? Or will it be Shaw? ML’s strategy an open book. One of our guys will have a trail of remoras.
Lubeley or EvilMH for BR, because Mihael’s endless taunting will get into Jeff King’s head. Schmalz will razz ReMax into submission. Lattanzi for VB? Or will they keep it together for Loudon? Can mini Thor smash with just Peter Hines at his side? Don’t look now, but Tiger Williams might be the second best TT’er and second best sprinter right now. We smell another Loehner/Molloy/Harris/Auth breakaway.
What’s the prize this week?
I predict rain.
Let’s get it on!!!!
i can t wait to see who can sprint up that hill. but my prediction is if it rains the powers at be will cut a lap from the race and turn it into a scratch race
but i hope they dont
Low turn out, who wants to sprint to the top of the Harlem hill 3 times, Yuck, and ouch. Van Dunk Head will be happy as many CRCA riders will head to Prospect.
Kevin Molloy however is licking his calfs and should easily take the win unless Lonesome gets in a break with Harris. KM is my pick. Mihael
That’s hot.
My money is on Kim in the A race
118 Dan Schmatz (USA) KodakGallery.Com-Sierra Nevada 11.50
…to see one of our own at the ToG, even if he sucks. From Metro to ML to Sierra Nevada, that guy gets around.
Better race prediction: what will Lance’s time be in the NYC Marathon?
f- lance
Jalabert did the NY Marathon in 2:55 last year, and he’s been known to disparage Lance in interviews, so you can be sure that Lance will be beating his time.
a few nyc riders are going….how will they fare in the real world??
Hi Mihael. I’m coming into town on the 22nd. Meet you up on Brokeback mountain? If your not available… Dan?

Mengoni has done well in Shenandoah in the past and they will do so again.
stupides americains! F- you all! BWAH HA HA HA HA HA

Unlike cycling, there’s no testing for amateur marathons. I expect to finish in under an hour.
Axis runs the table in the A’s……the coolest squad turning a crank these days.
only mengoni dares to venture outside of the city? strange…
This could be the weekend of kwk. He’s good in long flat races (Branchbrook) and points races (CRCA). He always manages to be in the right place with 200m to go, which will come in handy on the wet, curvy sprint up Harlem Hill.
Goodstein, Garcia and some 130-lb, 180-rpm chef will get away from the Bs and sweep up the points.
Watch out for Sherry on the down hill lead out before the Harlem Hill sprints!
A’s – Ken Harris
B’s – Ken King
C’s – Ken Dodd
Karl,
Our strategy is for me to take out the whole field by the rink so there are only ML guys left in the race. I’ve slid out there twice in the rain in that last two years taking the bends a little faster than my tires will allow.
D’s – Ken Kong
Yea….Mike, that KWK post took me right there to the last memory of you and that corner under wet conditions; " and oh yes, there will be blood!"
now i think i am hoping for some rain on sunday so i can watch Sherry!
It will rain, but Vino will also repeat at LBL.
lee3, I wish it were a corner or a switchback but it’s just a bend…. that’s what makes it so sad.
B’s B. Harris, Shaw and Serra. 1,2,3 Our guys are strong but only 2 starting so 9 on 2 is tough , in a points race! Ivry and Andy ride smart and hope you guys prove me wrong!
Throw O’Malley in for a top 5. And a small play to win.
Sherry,
It might not be a corner but that bend is one mean son of a bitch. Just two weeks ago it took a pound of flesh and a $100 helment from me.
I hate you bend, your just an overgrown elementary school bully. I am going to need therapy soon.
I predict rain.

Message Board of CRCA could be put to GOOD USE!!! Instead of the usual rambling rubbish!
This morning’s non-race was a fiasco from the point of view of internet technology!
Couldn’t one of the CRCA tech people simply POST on their board that the RAIN CANCELLED the race.
I and Mo from adler turned up and a few others from our team later to the announcement that "a moto didn’t turn up" — what a waste of valuable energy, we did one lap in the rain, last time this will happen for me I assure you.

ah did Didums have to get up early and wasn’t allowed to race. Before you sound off Anthony – think of some of the bigger issues. You had a race staff of 5 who were there before 5am setting up the tent and registration. By 5.30 about 10 marshals had showed up. By 5.40am 20 marshals were there and no motos. Oh yes a Parks Official was there. All the race staff had full intention of only cancelling the race as a last resort at the last moment. If the Race Director had allowed the race to go ahead with only 50% of the required marshals and no motos in front of a parks dept official you think there would be ANY CRCA races in the future ?
So at what point should the RD have fired up his laptop with internet connection in the Rambles Parking Lot to alert late riders that the race ws postponed ? At 5.40am or 5.42am ? Or do you think they should have just taken a gamble and run the race anyway a la certain other promoters and hope the Park Dept wouldn’t notice ?
C’mon Anthony don’t be a whiner just for the sake of it.
I agree with Justin
Hey Puny, if you’re a member of the crca yahoo group, you know you could have hurried home and posted a message there too….
CRCA RACE STAFF, MOTO MARSHALLS AN D TECH STAFF ARE OVERPAID!!
JT,
The race officials that showed up should be applauded. If it werent raining pre-start, there would have been a race. I agree with Justin…those people were willing to risk gettin sick so that others can "have fun". Overpaid? maybe some "underappreciated". Now the Moto-folks maybe should’ve made a phone call. It’s not like the rain was a big surprise….booooo for them!

Puny – with an attitude like that you would not be welcome at future CRCA races. We are all very glad to hear that this was the "last time this will happen for me I assure you." Enjoy your PP and FBF races for the rest of 2006.
Jonathan Adler Racing gives mad props to the officials and volunteers of CRCA. You guys rock, and we support everything you do for racing in The Big Apple.
