Hangover 5/3/2010

Mon, 05/03/2010 - 12:04pm by schmalz

I have returned from a trip to the open air fried food buffet known as New Orleans, and I am fatigued, heftier and face a to do list longer than Ben Day's tapeworm (and yes, I've been waiting days to use that reference). So join me as I scour the internet for results and get myself back up to speed.

At Saturday's Lucarelli and Castaldi Cup in Prospect Park, Chad Butts of Champion System won the Pro/123 race, moving into the top spot on the overall standings by 2 points over Anthony Lowe of CRCA/Die Hard - Think Racing. In the cat 4 race, Christopher Barbaria of Affinity Cycles wins for the second week in a row, increasing his overall lead. Andrew Estevez of Innovation Bike Shop won the cat 5 race, with Kevin Schmitt of Kissena holding the overall lead. Overall rankings are here.

At the Kissena opening Weekend, Colin Prensky of Affinity won the men's 1/2/3 omnium. Kimberly Edwards of CVC/Subaru of New England won the women's open omnium. Cameron Reider of Gotham Cyclists won the men's cat 4 omnium. The indefatigable Christopher Barbaria of Affinity Cycles won the Masters 40+ omnium. John Watson Mishka of DART / Ben's Cycle won the cat5 men's under 35 omnium. Javier Mereles Cycle of Craft Racing won the cat5 men's 35+ omnium. Results are here.

At the Kings County Circuit Race on Sunday, Jermaine and Horace Burrowes made it a sibling 1-2 in the Pro/123 race for Dave Jordan Coaching - Zephyr Graffiti. Nicholas Jamaul of Innovation Bike Shop won the cat 4 race. Jesus Espetia of CRCA/Blue Ribbon won the Masters 40+ / Women Handicap race and Andrew Clerico of CRCA/NYVelocity won the cat 5 race. Scroll down for results here.

At the Campmor H2H Race in Wawayanda State Park, they raced mountain bikes. Very thorough results are here.

There are no results posted as of this writing for the Tour of Colt's Neck, but I do know through a series of semi-tumescent emails that Kevin Brubaker of BH-Garneau won the cat 3 race.

Finally, we'd like to send our hopes for speedy recoveries to Leszek Sniadowski, Tim Spence and Gary Steinberg—and we would also like to offer Ricky Lowe a position as our voice of reason.

Claudette Lajam's shots of King's County are on the Kingpin site.

The mountainbikers will string the promoter up (or more likely, never ever return to the event) if the results are not psoted super promptly.

In fairness- I think it is harder to manage the results of a road race even within the multi lap format.

And- not all promoters in the H2H series are good. The races held in New Jersey typically have major mess ups. The NY promoters (must be something in the water) are a little better.

Roadies- come out to the DH40. Great race for the less skilled.

South Mountain...

Mon, 05/03/2010 - 6:32pm

I raced there last Thursday night...4/5 field...20 racers...not the most scenic race and the road is a little choppy, but otherwise a good time. I came in third which only goes to prove how weak the field was.

$15 Gift Certificate for Montclair Bikery...Fame and fortune awaits.

I think I'm going out to Sussex tomorrow night (the tour of New Jersey continues!) as opposed to FBF as the rain and Charlie's inability to install a state of the art drainage system doesn't bode well.

Yours in excitability,

Brian

Instead of whining like the little girl that you are, why don't you volunteer to do that for him? Better yet, why don't you put on a race?

Most people who make it past Cat 4 learn to appreciate what the promoters do for us.

AVD should get a clue from those H2H results. Geez, complete results with splits the next day.
