especially out of the 5s. there are about a billion races in riding distance in nyc from march through september. if you can’t figure out how to get 10 results to cut and paste to ragot, you are the biggest dumbass ever.

Simone Torque

Ross does NOT upgrade 2-1s. That’s Randy Inglis.

NYSBRA has regional upgrade coordinators. Ragot is NYC’s.

Sound’s like jealousy and sour grapes. A win’s a WIN. I’ll confirm that Ragot is a super strong racer that you likely can’t beat. In addition, he’s an advocate of this sport YOU love, puts more time into promoting it than you do and a great guy to boot. (No, I’m not on his team, in fact, he is an opponent of mine.)

I actaully always thought the guy was a Cat 2 all along – I’m surprised to hear he was 3. I’ve been in breakaways with him as a Cat 1 and he knows how to race and he’s positively Cat 2 material.

I hope USADA attends one of this weekend’s races to confirm everyone is within their proper racing category.

Seriously though, I hope they show up and test the top 10.

Was looking at the results. Do that many people DNF are do they just not place that far down? Or was there a crash?

Froomestrong

Also if the rider was let in an cheated it’s completed on the officials form USAC not the NJBA board. Yes there are things they do that I can’t stand, but this case wasn’t one of them.

The only issues I had with the state rr was the support vehicle not really knowing what to do.

Andrew Ross is the coordinator for upgrade to Cat 2 to Cat 1. You would still have to go through Eric Ragot for regular upgrades.

Congratulations to the new members of the 2014 CRCA Board for planning a bike race that loses $5,000 of the club’s money.

I think the statement of drug testing is that we take ourselves too seriously. I am regularly a contender if the races I enter. I am clean. I don’t care if I am being beaten by cheaters. Why waste the effort to worry about it.

NJ Snow Jobber

NJ RR a big mess! I heard that in one of the NJBA run NJ State road races that 2 or 3 riders were allowed to jump into the race, after it began with one lap already raced. They are told not to contest for the final sprint or to race up near the front. Guess what? The guy who wins it was the guy who jumped into the race with one lap down! The NJBA is a bunch of clowns for allowing that to happpen! And the guy claims to have raced the entire event! The NJBA with Tom Mains and Jim Bernstein are run by a bunch of self congratulating clowns for allowing this to happen!

NJ Snow Jobber

How did Frank Leach win? He’s not even a strong rider and not even a sprinter. Must have been just luck that nobody chased him down!

NJ Snow Jobber

Frank was beaten by 3 NY based riders. And was the highest placed NJ rider. So it wasn’t really a 1st place win!

Froomestrong

@tibor chill out. Yes he cheated, but it was also a Cat 3 RR. There’s a reason the Senior men’s state jersey is a different color than the other categories.

Frank is very fast this year. He dropped a lot of weight and has always been very powerful. He went with the right late race move, simple as that.

Froomestrong

not mad, I see how it could be read that way. Just was making a statement that I would like to see more.

Bianchi

If a rider has a protest they can go to the NJBA which is the local association. They don’t go to USA Cycling. The NJBA board also selects what officials are assigned to a race and trains and coaches them.

Arne Neck

Wait what? how can CRCA loose 5000$ when they are advertising an impressive 12.500$ in prize money for DJ Classic, there most be underwriting from somewhere(unless it’s the total cat 4 field with their 750$ prize pool paying for it!).

Simone Tubie

Yes I’m sure it’s sour grapes. Given that he rejects many worthwhile upgrades. But iif you go back and look at his own results a few years ago whe he was upgraded they are questionable. Double standard clearly. Go look. That’s why people are annoyed at him.

Giacomo Headbadge

As a mid-pack cat 3 I can say without a doubt that Eric Ragot is over rated. My online coach has told me many times that I have “cat 2 or maybe cat 1” power over 3.7-4.63 minute efforts. I once rode away from Eric Ragot for almost a quarter of a lap of prospect park. These two facts lead me to believe that he has at best cat 3 power so it’s inexplicable that he is a cat 2.

Gabriel Helmet

Ragot sucks at being upgrade coordinator

He follows the “suggested guidelines” as if they were handed down by the Ghost of Fausto Coppi.
Chill out and just upgrade me out of the 5’s, why must I suffer when VanDumbass can’t submit results.

mosaic

if your upgrade is denied, and accumulating the remaining points is difficult enough to warrant a tirade on the internet, you probably will get dropped in the subsequent category. if you earn it, you get it. stop whining/ride faster. all those other dudes were able to upgrade, right?

Wylie Brazeon

FYI…i believe AVD submitted all of his results this year, so you don’t even have him to blame any more.
