It will be a relatively docile weekend of racing in the area, with options near and nearly near.
Saturday is the succunctly named 2012 New York Cycling Series / Big Apple Bicycle Classic Sponsored By Team Axis And Axis Theater Company in Prospect Park.
Also on Saturday a bit farther north is the Nutmeg Classic Criterium in New Britain, CT.
On Sunday, there's the FBF Time Trial & TTT presented by Lucarelli & Castaldi at Floyd Bennett Field.

We are experiencing the type of weather that prompts the painfully obvious amongst us to query others about the quality and quantity of wetness that abounds by asking perchance, if it conditions we
I am by nature a vituperative person, it's my default setting, and today my ire has been raised, so I'm going to strike back and just half ass my way through this Hopeful Friday posting, because pu
It was an eventful weekend, but I am a bit behind this morning so I will dutifully reports on the results of the weekend.

partially because douchebags like you give Rod and Alex such a hard time. Who would want to do this shit?
Fitchburg canceled. Is road racing dying? Or are grand fondos winning...?
NYS Crit had 22 guys, not a bad win for champsys
The rest of champsys was too busy turking Airforce Classic
http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/air-force-cycling-classic-2012/clarendo...
@Middle o the pack who said "FBF was not well run. Alex needed to step up, but didn't." I'm willing to listen to any suggestions you might have on what I could have done to "step up".
btw - for all the people bitching about the women in the masters 1-4 field on saturday: the women competing in this race rode strong and safely and it was nice to have them in the pack.
i'll also say that it was a nice, sportsmanlike move by the men in the field, after the descent on the women's last lap, to slow-up and make way so the women could gain separation from the rest of the group and contest their own field sprint.
glad i avoided the 4/5 shit-show.
only about six guys register for the race, since champ-sys is pro as shit should they really be posting about winning small time raved.
Take a look at the posting time of results and also Rod's note. I'm up for work after a full night of sleep. Rod clearly is not.
He is a volunteer, as are all the other CRCA board members. None of these guys needs to do this work. They choose to help the local racing scene.
Its just what we make of it.
Prop to the Rodster for stepping up and admitting his errors. That takes some grande cajones to take fault and not blame other people. Much respect for that. Hope some lessons were learned that can improve the process.
Rod - still disappointed with the race, BUT glad you stepped up on this post to recognize the issues and try to make amends. Let's hope this year is a lesson for next year and a smooth event.
Posters, anonymous and others.
Agree with you all that the score keeping at today's TT was not up to scratch and apologize for that. We didn't have the right system in place. It is in fact quite difficult to keep track of so many riders on the course and we under-estimated the difficulty.
That was not Alex's fault, that was mine.
We had two marshals that independently created two sets up times. I went through those times and produced what I believe are accurate results, with the exception of the Cat 4 ITT.
Results for the Cannibal ITTs and the Team TT were produced quickly and accurately, printed and posted at the race.
If any rider from the ITT has input as to their time, please email president@crca.net. If you are totally dissatisfied with event, email president@crca.net along with your phone number and we can discuss in person and if necessary arrange for a credit to one of our future events such - Alpine TT on 6/23 or Central park Classic on 6/30.

Public opinion results in - clement compliant wins the "jerk store, I didnt race" prize ! Congrats CC !
CRCA TT results just came in. It's official: you're all slow.
Allan Rego won P12
Greg Olsen won 35+
Even the time keepers at FBF were complaining that they couldn't keep track of times and I personally saw one say to a racer in a CRCA jersey "how are we supposed to keep track of this sh$t".
FBF was not well run. Alex needed to step up, but didn't.
Suckers!
Testify verrochio cable! Those of us who actually raced agree. FBF was an all-time crap-wagon.
Yes, dry lube. We expect results within hours. You know that old thing called the "protest period". Yeah, that thing. Nobody should be expected to wait around for 5, 6, etc hours to see a time, especially when the logistics were totally screwed up, and no doubt, there would have been timing errors -- if we only knew. . . . Okay, good talk dry lube, now go pretend that you actually race again. Laaaa-whooooo-zerrrrrr . . . .
I hardley ever write on this board but today at FBF was amazingly poorly run, if your time is incorrect do not be surprised I was one of the last to leave and they had hundreds of #s written on scrap paper and they were trying to figure out your times? How hard can it be write down what time of day you start, tally your laps on the last lap write down the time of day and subtract that is your time. SorryCRCA you really dropped the ball on this one.
so now we expect results within hours?
It's funny all the expectations/demands NYC racers have. Yet, they are all getting conned into joining teams or paying club dues, paying for kits, and paying coaching fees
To say FBF was a "crap show" is a colossal understatement. Some TTT did 7 laps, some did 5, etc, because the entire event was unorganized and poorly run. No results for hours. No organizational leadership. Total shit show. Only highlight was seeing Harris race with his kid - very cool.
Hey Julien, youre the one who said horrace and co always post results.
I was just correcting that misinformation. I'm glad you modified that statement and agreed with me.
I have contacted horrace. You can see the "results" of that. I've been cursed at and threatened.
I don't race Thursday nights either. If I did I would know the results. Maybe no one races on Thursday nights?
I'm not a pipe, but...
Not a complainer, but how the h$ll is it okay for an organizer NOT to release TT results for HOURS after the race in the 90 degree heat. CRCA TT at FBF was a crap show today. Truth.
in the Big Apple Classic. It looked nasty. Anyone know how the crashed riders are doing? Hope they are ok.
MEN'S Cat 80%
did this crash occur in?
The crash in the 4/5 field looked like an atomic bomb was dropped in the middle of the field. Guys slid left and right and took out half the field. It looked like Kung Fu Fred had the power up and just dropped some nastiness from the sky in the middle of the filed. The 5s should race on separate days in their own field. Further yet, they should be mandated to do some bike handling training. Or even better
they should race the Cat 6'ers on the West Side Path. It was one of the scariest, twitchiest races ever.
With Love,
Dry Lube
GET KNOCKED THE FUCK OUT!!!
I am not a Burrowes brother, not on their team either. But when they put on a park race, David Somerville promptly sends results to USAC as he has already done for yesterday's race. Can't say anything about Thursdays, have never even been to one of them. why don't you ask them?
Hey, Julien Topcap Burrows:
Which part of this is always wrong?:
"relax....horace & co. always posts results.
axis just sponsored the race, didn't score it."
The last race that shows results is May 17.
http://wsunited.org/Race_Results.html
Did they cancel the rest of the series?
Everyone gives Van Dunk a hard time but his results are usually more timely than a Bro event.
i guess no one cares about the Thursday night series?
NY Cycling Series race results posted for 6/9/12 event in Prospect Park.
http://www.usacycling.org/results/?permit=2012-1883
Event ID 2012-1883
Pro 123, Cat 4/5, Masters 40+ and Women.
Usual notes on results:
If you are listed as DNP (Did not place) it is for one of several reasons.
1. You didn't finish at all due to flat, crash, mechanical or other reason.
2. You didn't finish within a reasonable time period from the leader of your field. (breakaways are normally recorded on a separate video file from large field finishes.)
3. We couldn't see your number as it was pinned incorrectly, missing or on the wrong side.
Additional information:
USAC has been experiencing difficulties with their online results system.
Of major note, they LOST results from Lucarelli & Castaldi Cup race on dates of 4/21/12, 4/28/12 and the 5/12/12 results don't always show up correctly.
We are addressing the issues and hope to have a solution in the near future.
Thanks,

i just resulted all over my bro
This is all good information
And my teamate I was leading out came in 63rd if I remember correctly...the kids a beast.
Duly noted
I'm sure I came in 75th or top 80 if that helps.
Adam Alexander won the 123 race, I am unsure of the other races
relax....horace & co. always posts results.
axis just sponsored the race, didn't score it.
Or is that too much to ask from the Axis guys
Start times were emailed to all registrants last night.
Check your email for final race details.
Start times here:

I like how Doug Oniel lead out Carol and most of the women's field off the front of the men's race as the men had one more to go.
Any word on actual start times for Cat 1/2/3 FBF ITT tomorrow, as opposed to bike regs mass "9:00 am" start time?
Guys walking outta the woods? Was this the Tour de Deliverance?
there were guys walking out of the woods with their bikes when the Master field went by. And Ambulances all over the course. It must have looked like a war in the 4/5 race.
You guys are ridiculous. If I put up links to all the pussy assed men's crashes there wouldn't be enough space on the internet.

Complainers, This is what you sound like:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfboOt1bJcA
Think of CatWoman as the original. A cat 4 woman is 4 levels below..
What does a Cat 4 woman look like?
Tammy Thomas to Mengoni.
Or is that Mangina?
I once saw a Cat 4 woman spontaneously combust in a race...scary. Another time I saw a Cat 3 women chew off the arm of another racer.
Women in the men's field? Next thing you know, they'll let neanderthals in...
For shit's sake it's PP. It's not technical. There's 10 women signed up and most names I recognized as experienced. I'd be more worried about the Cat 4 men. What a bunch of whiners. If you don't like it don't race. Not to mention there are certain Brooklyn master's teams who ride lie crap anyway.
I like women
Because there are multiple inexperienced cat 4 women racing in the womens cat 1 2 3 race. We all know that this could be a very DANGEROUS !
I am turking airforce classic
If you're in a masters race lasting longer than 4 hours, seek medical attention immediately.
Riverton is a true crit unlike the park races which neither a crit nor a road race (to short for a RR and no corners). Seriously, bring the family to Riverton and have a good time. It's a great race with a fun atmosphere. It is very sad that more people don't try venturing to races beyond the city. It really adds to the cycling experience to do races in different towns/states, etc.
ALso, Air force is also this weekend.
how frightening for the cat 4's to have women in the race, because cat 4's are such a safe field as it is...
The women race with the masters, listen if there is a crash caused by someone who should not be in the race I would hate for Axis to be sued or anyone else for that matter.
Axis and the Chief Referee should simply enforce the rules thats all.
Good Luck and be safe.
....take it easy Masters closed don't see a single woman signed up...
And from the very far department: the Adirondack Race Weekend. Wilmington-Whiteface Road Race on Saturday, and the Saranac Lake Criterium (NYS Champs) on Sunday. There are a few NYC folk going there, so see you there this weekend.
with women in the field there is no need for this kind of master baiting
It is a womens cat 1 2 3 not cat 4
https://www.bikereg.com/Net/15554
Only 1.5 hours away for a downtown crit, with decent prize money and a great course, with actual spectators.
we need to support races like this over the corporate centers and 6 am park racing.
Straight from the USA Cycling Rule Book: 1K2. Women may enter any men’s race for which they are eligible by age, category, and any performance requirements. They may also enter categorized races for men that are up to one category lower than their women's category. For road, track, and cyclo-cross events, category 1 women may enter men’s races up to two categories lower. In addition, master women may compete in men’s masters races, subject to other eligibility requirements, as follows: category 1 and 2 master women may enter men’s events for riders up to 10 years above their racing ages; category 3 and 4 master women may enter men’s events for riders up to 20 years above their racing ages.
If a Cat 4 woman wants to race in the masters race, she needs to register in the masters race as long as she is 30+. A cat 4 woman cannot register for a women's 1-2-3 race.
cat 4 women are allowed in EVERY masters race in Prospect Park. They will also be allowed in the Masters Throwdown in CP in August.
If you read the bikereg registration page, they reccommend that cat 4 women race with the 4-5 men. However, cat 4 women are still cat4's. The masters race is cat1,2,3, & 4. therefore cat 4 men and women are allowed to enter that race.
Easily distracted?
This is very dangerous for all who race tomorrow morning.
