if you are really concerned about safety take bedford ave down til the end. a bike path connects to FBF, not sure if it is fully repaired yet but last time I went 50 yards of grass / sand to walk over. but otherwise, all bike lane all the time, slow moving roads especially once you get near brooklyn college.
not a bad route, but personally the ave k to the end is the suck part in my opinion. the earlier part is just traffic, generally moving so slow that cars can't even do dumb stuff if they want to.
Prospect Park Roadway, exit Park Circle
Halfway around circle to Coney Island Avenue
BR Coney Island Avenue
L Albemarle Rd (just past Church Avenue)
R Rugby Road (for about 3mi)
L Avenue K (for about 1 1/2mi)
R Flatbush
You'll catch Flatbush where it doesn't suck so bad. Assume you depart/pass Grand Army Plaza 6p at a toodling pace, you'll still get to the start with 2 or 1 to go in the 5's.
The Rev 50s are great, a little heavier than the 404s, but the performance drop isn't significant. Great wheels for the money, and yes, I did pay for them. BH is a great bike--and I payed for that also.
i've missed the past few fbfs (funny thing called work) but i see you're rockin the rev-fiddies. what's the verdict? how do the stack against the 404s?
while you're at it, give a report on the bh frame?
Nice shots. I think Tom was lying on the ground for some of these. I remember coming around turn 2 one time and i was half payign attention when I saw him on the ground taking shots and I flinched for a sec thinking someone had crashed and was lying there. Was getting ready to bunny hop the bike that I assuemd went with that crashed rider.
we should all do the NJ crit. dude just couse youre tire doent mean we should all follow your advice. and that is good advice.
and yes I know youre trying to get people to go there..yeah yeah I get it.
BUT YOU JUST CAN COMPARE.......NOT EVEN CLOSE.
I know for a fact that more than a few guys ride home from floyd a little buzzed, and to those who may or may not have bet on me in Tuesday, I am sorry for the flat.
I love Floyd once you get there, but I am tired of almost getting killed on Flatbush and the rest of the route getting there and home.
You want a great mid week crit option that is much easier and safer to get (and also much fewer junk miles) try Rockleigh tomorrow night. 75 min from Central Park without even pushing it.
123 race at 6pm and 4,5 race at 7pm. 4,5 race usually fills or comes close to the the 50 max, though the 123 usually only gets 30-40 guys -- far from the 75 max. So just roll on out tomorrow for the race or one of the remaining Thursdays until 8/19.

Thanks for the heads up. I won't be out there tonight, but I'll be at PP this weekend, look for me!
I saw Dan's 404 at coney island a couple of weeks ago. looking SEXY. in the sand.

Great shots, thanks for taking the time to come out and shoot.
Yup, that was me laying on the ground @ turn 2. Don't run me over, please!

very cool pics, nice angles!
sounds like there is enough interest for both fbf & rockleigh to pack fields so no need to choose one over the other, anyway real men could do both.
from CP it takes 50 minutes of tempo down Flatbush to fbf, if you ride like a car, drivers will respect you more :-)
