Two Races

Hopeful Friday

There will be some racing this weekend, if you like hills you are probably on your way to the  Capital Region Road Race on Saturday.

Closer to home is R&A Cycles New York Cycling Series Prospect Park race, also Saturday.

Not really a race for everyone…tough/steep climbs and a 2+ hour drive (speeding from the GWB)…I understand why people opted out

me too

Cap Region is actually pretty easy. there’s one short but very steep climb each lap and a finishing climb on each lap that’s much easier than River Road. Race is 40 or 60 miles depending on your cat. And it’s a cheap entry fee. So the only reason I can think of that people don’t go, is it’s too easy.
btw, it’s an hour and a half doing the legal speed limit from the GWB so you can’t use that as an excuse.

Perhaps in fantasy land it’s 1.5 hours away…it’s just under 130 miles from the bridge to the school where they had registration. Speed limit is 65 on I-87 and there was no traffic heading there yesterday morning…please learn math or admit that you were breaking the law to get there. (BTW…I made the drive up yesterday from the Heights and guess what? It took 2 hours without having to stop for gas)

It’s cheap, but so is the production. Boring start, worse finish, narrow roads, no neutral. Not very memorable at all.

Great race but a hard man’s course. Look at the attrition rate – more DNFs than finishers. Look at the finishing times – the peloton in every race is smashed to bits.

Your average park racer lasts until mile 6 and then game over… Time to head back to the car.

Not worth it for a lot of guys.
