7/3 Update

Craig has some updates to his blog: sneaking in some rides, getting sick, and finally getting his operation.

Craig
Cook left New York last year to attend the Princeton School of
Architecture. Craig visited a cardiologist after a particularly
listless race followed by a few days of mysterious arrhythmia. He
discovered that he had Ventricular Tachycardia, a potentially fatal
heart anomaly. Here's the note we got from Craig:

As
you may or may not have heard I've been in and out of the hospital with
some crazy cardiac shit. After this last visit I decided to start a
blog. I've run into a number of cyclists with mysterious arrythmias,
local and abroad, and figured I'd add to the collective info pool with
my own story. Please post as you see fit. I am planning to eventually
write the story in feature form at some point.

Best,

craig

Hope you're doing well, Craig. Do you remember Jim Mohan from back in the day? ChemBank? He struggled with what sounds like something very similar, for years. One day his cardiologist mentioned a new, non-invasive procedure (this was in '98 or so) that used catheters to get to the, ehem, heart of the problem. He hasn't had an episode since and at 40 years-old has been tearing up NRC and US Crit Series races. You can find him on Facebook if you want to hear more. Be well!

I was just diagnosed with the type of tachycardia that Julich had and will soon experience the joys of radio-frequency ablation myself. I really hope they can fix you up soon and for good. Best, Lise
