Berkshire Cycling Classic

Cyclo Sportif – Gran Fondo and USAC Races

The second annual Berkshire Bicycle Classic in Lenox, Massachusetts, on Sunday June 9, 2013, will feature route selections of 62-and 81-miles (100k and 130k) for the Gran Fondo and 130km for the USAC Events.

Overall times for both distances will be recorded and ranked according to age groups for the Gran Fondo and Photo Finish service for results for the USAC event. The long and hilly routes provide the perfect settings for those who wish to test their legs in a friendly and competitive atmosphere.

Ride with GPS (Link) – 130K – 5995′ Climbing
Ride with GPS (Link) – 100K – 4629′ Climbing

Both the 130 and 100km routes wind through the Berkshire Region and offer up to 1909 meters of climbing, with the highest peak at 520 meters and the lowest 201 meters. Riders will travel through historic Stockbridge and Beartown State Forest, eventually passing by the New York State border and back to Lenox. These are challenging courses. Feed zones will be manned at approximately the 30, 70, and 100km points.

  • Packet Pick-up starting at 6:45AM
  • Masters 35/45+ Start
  • Category 4 Start
  • Gran Fondo 100km and 130km start
  • Finish-line activities
  • Post-event reception: Pasta, food and beer in the town center

Getting to Lenox, Massachusetts, USA:

Lenox is located in the Berkshire Mountains is 2.5 hours by highway from Boston, 3 hours from New York, and 5 hours from Montreal. It is accessible to to two of the major metropolitan areas of the United States, yet remains rural, beautiful and boasts excellent restaurants and hotels. A famous art colony, Lenox is a worthwhile destination for an international tourist looking for a unique American experience.

International visitors can easily combine a rural cycling trip with a visit to an exciting and historic international city in this manner

  • Manhattan – Lenox: 140 miles/224 kilometers. Three hours by highway
  • Boston – Lenox: 130 miles/210 kilometers. Two hours and twenty minutes by highway

Rider Amenities:

Each participant will receive the following:

  • A fully supported ride or race throughout the Berkshire Region of Massachusetts.
  • Timing chips for all riders
  • Full mechanical support 
  • Three manned aid and medical stations along the route complete with food, energy drink, and other supplies.
  • Secure bike parking during post-event celebrations
  • Event expo, receptions, and other special events throughout the weekend
  • Results and medals awarded to the top finishers in each age category for teh Gran Fondo, specific to UCI-World Cycling Tour standards (We are keeping the standards, who knows? Maybe the UCI status comes back to the Berkshires)
  • Prize list of $500 for each USAC event
