Tuxedo Park

7/14 Update:
The Long Meadow Time Trial is on the horizon!
Its going to be fast!
Its going to be challenging!
Its going to be chock full oÂ’ fun!
A few notes:
1. Ladies and Juniors race for free – Trade Manage has agreed to subsidize these entries to help promote the sport amongst these categories and we hope you and your teammates and friends take advantage of this. Spread the word to the junior and lady riders that you know.
2. The registration fee for all other categories is a sexy $20bucks. That fee is schedule to go up on July 22, next week. Procrastination is fun, but in this regard, expensive. Why throw away money unnecessarily? Sign up now, pad your wallet.
3. Expanded course – At this stage, I’m pretty comfortable suggesting that the course will be more along the lines of 14 miles. Last year we intended to ride a full loop starting and ending on the same side of the road at the IP Parking lot, with two 360 degree turns. This would provide the 14miles. Unfortunately, last year we couldn’t make that work, and had to lop off the 1.4 mile loop on the Route 17A side of the course. Thus, it was approximately 12.5 miles last year.
This year, we expect to run a full loop on the road which will make it approximately 13.5 to 14 miles depending on where we place the turnaround which will be dependent on road conditions. I was on the course today and the roads are in fantastic shape, just perfect. There are virtually no inlet roads on the course. The pavement is virtually void of chop or potholes and is near perfect in some areas due to a paving job completed 2 years ago. We have arranged for police protection at the turnaround.
4. This race also will serve as the CRCA Club TT Championships. The CRCA is hoping to get us some additional volunteer support. That plus the existing roster of Westwood volunteers should hopefully provide a well staffed, well supported event.
ThatÂ’s it for now. Expect to see a few more emails drumming up this race a bit. As you can tell, weÂ’re excited. Its going to be a fantastic event, hopefully equaling the standard set by all the NJBA TT Cup Promoters who have put on great events so far this season.
Registration is located on Bikereg and can be found here:

NJBA TT Cup Committee
Chairperson
On behalf of Westwood Velo and the NJBA, I am pleased to announce that the Long Meadow Time Trial, held on August 1st, 2009 in Tuxedo Park, New York shall serve as the CRCA Time Trial Club Championships for members of the CRCA as well as a critical event in the NJBA TT Cup Series. Westwood Velo and the NJBA have long enjoyed our competitive relationship with our CRCA cycling counterparts and are honored to have the opportunity to help them provide a terrific club championship event for their members.
The Long Meadow Time Trial is a 14 mile course on Long Meadow Road in Tuxedo Park, New York. It is a demanding course with rolling climbs, many flat sections, some very fast technical descents, all of which push across terrific pavement in a quiet country atmosphere. Parking and the start line are located at the northern end of Long Meadow Road in the International Paper parking lot at 1422 Long Meadow Road, Tuxedo NY 10987
First rider will start at 8am. CRCA members looking to compete for their CRCA Club Championship should register in one of the 3 CRCA-specific categories. Please ensure you register in the CRCA Men’s A, CRCA Men’s B, or CRCA Women’s categories if you are racing for the CRCA Championship.
Additionally, we are offering a Team Time Trial category which shall run as the last grouping for the day. We can make no guarantees that riders racing the ITT will be able to also run the TTT though we will strive hard to ensure this can be accommodated. If we can not ensure you are back from your ITT event for the TTT, then we shall of course refund your monies. We did not have any such issues last year and do not anticipate any this year. Yet, if it is unworkable, refunds will be provided. The TTT is a maximum of 4 riders, time taken on the third wheel across the line.
Timing and scoring is managed by redundant scoring systems. Alan Atwood and his technologies serve as the primary timing systems, while time trial scoring software developed by Trade Manage Capital shall serve as a redundant backup.
Registration for the event must be done in advance. There is no day-of registration. Registration is only available on Bikereg.com and be found here:

CAT 4 Showdown!!!
WWV=all class
No CRCA Masters Champ this year? Why the change?
New Board seems to put its entire focus into Road Racing and treat all other disciplines as red-headed step children.
Horrible! Plus they moved the early bird special to 445 PM! And the portions got small!!
All of the new stuff CRCA did this year involved TT’s. The Alpine Hill Climb and the Sebago TT.
The Sebago course was far superior to FBF.
is there a cannibal division?
I heard from Mike that the CRCA masters champ will be awarded on time – it’s just not a separate registration category.
“New Board seems to put its entire focus into Road Racing and treat all other disciplines as red-headed step children.”
i’m glad someone finally said this because – let’s be honest here – we’ve all been thinking it. it’s f-cked up that the Century *Road* Club Association is entirely focused on road racing. they’re also way too focused on being a club of associates. and cycling, seriously, what’s up with their obsession with cycling? creepy.
Didn’t the courts rule that ‘lady’s night’ was discriminatory?
This is the smoothest and fastest course within an hour of the city. WV runs the best TT’s in the area and this one will be no different. How you going to win a stage race if you don’t practice your TT? Come out and race!
