At Nissequogue River State Park

Nissequogue River State Park is located on the north shore of central Long Island, roughly 50 miles from Manhattan and 80 miles from Montauk. The park offers a mix of grass fields, dirt trails and paved roadways that will make for fun cyclocross racing.

Directions from the east or west: Take the LIE to exit 53 and enter the Sunken Meadow Parkway heading north. Follow the parkway to the exit before Sunken Meadow Park. Take exit SM5W onto Route 25A heading west. Stay on 25A for 1/2 mile. At the first traffic light take a right onto Sunken Meadow Road. Follow Sunken Meadow Road for 2.3 miles. Nissequogue River Park entrance will be on the left. Park in the first lot by registration.

Registration and info at www.bikereg.com. Field limit 50 riders per race. Preregistration is recommended and greatly appreciated. Sign in opens at 9AM. Entry fee is $15 per day. All riders must have a valid 2009 USA Cycling licence or purchase a one day licence at the race site.

We have use of the park for only a short period of time. Therefore, there will be only two races per day, each with a handicap start. The first race goes off at 10AM. There will be a half an hour between the two races so that riders in the second race may warm up on the course. Each will be 50 to 60 minutes depending upon conditions and time constraints.

Categories
“A” race: Men Categories 1,2,3 and Women Categories 1,2.
“B” race: Men Category 4 and Women Categories 3,4.

Prizes and number of places will depend upon the size of the fields. These are fun training races so big money prizes should not expected. I will have merchandize prizes by Specialized and hopefully some modest cash prizes as well.

USA Cycling permit pending. East End Cycling Team is the host club.

Fields may be combined or split by the promoter as field size and composition require.
