Hi
Anyone know what exit off 9w coming from GW?
Thanks
Cynthia
alpine
There is an exit called “Alpine”…
Thanks!
i know it’s a TT, but is there any day-of registration?
Is it wiser to take the Palisades or 9w from the GW?
Thanks
Can I drive my car up Alpine? I can do like 2:00 min from the Ranger Station
There is a exit off the Palisades that puts you right at the police station.
I am not sure what it’s called but I am sure that you can figure it out on Google maps.
I want to thank Mike & all the guys out there who made this event happen!
who won, what time?
It was fun, though. Thanks to all who made it happen.
Rumor has it, the best time was around the 5 minute mark.
And I hoping I beat Pat Garrity

Yeah, nice job Mike and Adler. I lost my pork bet with Jammet. Not only did I not cover the spread, I straight up lost to him by 1 second. CJIA (dammit).
too bad it wasn’t smooth… the county should re-pave it (anyone know who we can approach to have this repaved)?
…by a 49 (!) year old, but I heard two guys had the exact same time. next time they have to count tenths of a second it seems.
Don’t be a baby.
Dense fog at FBF this morning. Couldn’t really see the turns from the start and the course was only 0.9miles total. It started raining right at the start of the 3/4 race. I thought it would get ugly with wrecks in every corner, but I was wrong. It was a hard race with lots of attacks, in particular the first 5 laps were brutal. Finally a move of three stuck and got a big gap very quickly. They stayed away to the end. I think it was a pretty safe, fun race, there were no wrecks that I saw. Turnout for 123 was lousy. Don’t know why so few guys came out, I’d totally do this one again.
who won? winning time?
Unofficially Brian Gabele at 4:56.
Gabele said he was 5:04 and I heard there were 2 5:01’s.
Maybe he started his watch early?
Great little event and nice job by Mike Green.
thats some fast climbing!
Fantastic times.
Any chance to comment on power, gearing, rpm, etc…fun finer details, pacing strategy, training (low/high rpm, seated/standing, etc)?
Well done!

andy shen is currently committing hara-kiri over what happened today…
so what’d i win andy? hows about some momofuku pork buns (mmm….)

no surprise with that top three. those guys can climb.
was 2nd overall!
also nice blog, Gabe, what could motivate more than girlfriend giving split time at crucial do-or-die moment!
hey excitable cat 4–you are wrong
now we know!
Fast Women, 6min
Fast Men, 5min
phenomenal!
when are we going to run this again?
Ellen Moses… you are incredible (esp 4 ur age)!
cat4, 4th overall, maybe? oh, me so sorry…
since I was a junior, hah!
30 seconds between riders… would give everyone someone to chase & produce faster times?
your proud of that? that you have gotten worse after turning senior?
he’s definitely gotten worse at reading results sheets
what happened to Ken Harris?
award to the best troll/flame/hater…
It takes 5.5-6 watts/kg.
Ken Harris was sick today, so it was reported by his team mates, who did a great job helping out with the race. 1.5 minute gap was at the request of the parks department. Since the roads are open to traffic the parks department didn’t want to create a dangerous situation by having too many cyclists on the road.
Dick move to call out Evan like that.
When you were 19, where was your focus? Mine was unsuccesfully trying to get my d*ck wet any chance I got. Maybe he had a tough semester? The fact that we have guys his age that want to race should be encouraged, not flamed. He has many more races in front of him than you or I.
it takes less than 5.5 watts/kg. no one in that race has over a 5.5 i bet.
5.5 is not that crazy for 5 minutes. 385 watts for a 70 kg rider. For 20 minutes that’d be a lot harder, but still doable for top amateurs.
Quote from Brian’s GMSR write up last year:
“The race went well for me; I averaged 397 watts for about 15 minutes and finished 5th but a distant 9 seconds behind the star of the day”
That is 5.67w/kg for 15 minutes. And he finished 5th.
There are little Cat4 climber guys like Dobes and Cutler who can hold north of 5.7w/kg for 5 minutes, and they’re not on the podium in big races.
Lucky for us big dudes! W/kg doesn’t mean much in local races!
Todd Herriot regularly did it in the 4:20 range while training.
now that’s what I’m talking about … kick *ss
what are u suggesting, everyone there sucked…
Todd Herriot is a pro, and should be able to whip everyone… but who timed him anyway, u?
😛
not talking about those names you mentioned specifically, but some guys will never be on the podium in big races no matter what their w/kg is.
but this was a hill climb TT.
Gabele, Chaput, and Cuttler all won races last year.
the best riders can do both, TT & win races…
😉
where were the start and finish?
the start was just past where the double yellow line starts out of the parking lot. Right by the big pile of goose poop. The finish was on the section of the road where there was a nice level flat spot on the grass to put up the tent and table.
Give these climbers a hand, they both climbing very well for any age!
Andre Hurni 65 – 6:21
Marie Derosa 59 – 7:00
wow, so many climbers did very well!
curious, wheels/tires for top riders?
curious, breakfast, boxers/briefs for top riders?
Hmm? I think Gabele won GMSR last year?
Guy is a Cat2 now.
hmm? what?
metal wheels & rubber tires w/air… lol
curious, what juice for top riders, Tropicana or Welches?
I shoot up red bull!
carbon or wood wheels?
apple or cyto?
toe clips or speedplay?
douche or wipes?
bunch of ask loans!!!
No wonder Cadence/3rd Nature stank!
But SBR/R&A/Signature survive???
