There is a exit off the Palisades that puts you right at the police station.
I am not sure what it’s called but I am sure that you can figure it out on Google maps.

Yeah, nice job Mike and Adler. I lost my pork bet with Jammet. Not only did I not cover the spread, I straight up lost to him by 1 second. CJIA (dammit).

too bad it wasn’t smooth… the county should re-pave it (anyone know who we can approach to have this repaved)?

Tired and wet

Dense fog at FBF this morning. Couldn’t really see the turns from the start and the course was only 0.9miles total. It started raining right at the start of the 3/4 race. I thought it would get ugly with wrecks in every corner, but I was wrong. It was a hard race with lots of attacks, in particular the first 5 laps were brutal. Finally a move of three stuck and got a big gap very quickly. They stayed away to the end. I think it was a pretty safe, fun race, there were no wrecks that I saw. Turnout for 123 was lousy. Don’t know why so few guys came out, I’d totally do this one again.

Gabele said he was 5:04 and I heard there were 2 5:01’s.
Maybe he started his watch early?

Fantastic times.
Any chance to comment on power, gearing, rpm, etc…fun finer details, pacing strategy, training (low/high rpm, seated/standing, etc)?

Well done!

Ken Harris was sick today, so it was reported by his team mates, who did a great job helping out with the race. 1.5 minute gap was at the request of the parks department. Since the roads are open to traffic the parks department didn’t want to create a dangerous situation by having too many cyclists on the road.

Dick move to call out Evan like that.
When you were 19, where was your focus? Mine was unsuccesfully trying to get my d*ck wet any chance I got. Maybe he had a tough semester? The fact that we have guys his age that want to race should be encouraged, not flamed. He has many more races in front of him than you or I.

5.5 is not that crazy for 5 minutes. 385 watts for a 70 kg rider. For 20 minutes that’d be a lot harder, but still doable for top amateurs.

Quote from Brian’s GMSR write up last year:

“The race went well for me; I averaged 397 watts for about 15 minutes and finished 5th but a distant 9 seconds behind the star of the day”

That is 5.67w/kg for 15 minutes. And he finished 5th.

There are little Cat4 climber guys like Dobes and Cutler who can hold north of 5.7w/kg for 5 minutes, and they’re not on the podium in big races.

Lucky for us big dudes! W/kg doesn’t mean much in local races!

what are u suggesting, everyone there sucked…

Todd Herriot is a pro, and should be able to whip everyone… but who timed him anyway, u?

😛

not talking about those names you mentioned specifically, but some guys will never be on the podium in big races no matter what their w/kg is.

but this was a hill climb TT.

the start was just past where the double yellow line starts out of the parking lot. Right by the big pile of goose poop. The finish was on the section of the road where there was a nice level flat spot on the grass to put up the tent and table.
