Oops!! Correction on the “Black Pearl” reference. I was thinking about that new Dolan carbon set up. The “Black Soul” is what I meant. If you check out the Nov. issue of Procycling’s wishlist section you’ll understand the mix-up. The design concept is almost identical. Hot frame – “…and the legs wahh like budda!”

You guys are working it. Good luck!

Teach them fundmentals now…

The goods are fine – maybe too fine for a cat 4, but I wish you luck anyway. Positive effort should be met with the like.

I this a team or are you goat herders?

I didn’t see anyone rotating on the way home.

This is not the New York Cycle Club boys. You climb at tempo together as a team. The only talking that should be done between riders are grunts. This equiptment cost someone some money…

Campo,

I believe your words below are “Positive effort should be me with the like” – A bunch of enthusiastic CRCA members got together, formed a sub-team (actually the core team already existed from last year) and through some organization, planning, leadership and hard work have secured sponsors and designed a kit. I hear that the team has plans for some charitable work as well. CRCA allows for formation of sub-teams for a number of reasons, including I believe, to improve member’s riding skills, racing tactics and comraderie, not to mention allowing them to improve. In all, I would think this is neutral to positive for CRCA and NYC cycling. So, why so critical?

With this approach and progress to date, I’d expect to see more of this team in ’06, but since its only Cat 4, who’ll really care anyway…

Son every time you are on a bike you are taking you life in your hands. Live every moment like you were dying. Who cares? I do.. I am just giving advice.

If you don’t want it – I will go away. Don’t go by the tone but the substance of what I said. I was out coaching myself yesterday and was still in the drill instructor state of grace… Cheers

The Shepherd

I agree…make the most of life. Its short, precious and fragile and any ride could be your last, so make it count (though it is only November and the season is 3 1/2 months away).. I also now understand better where you are coming from and I appreciate it. Tone is hard to tell from the written word at times and I am pleased to hear that you do care. I believe that this teams wants to have fun and make the most of what it can be…and not just of bunch of pretty maillots.

Your advice is appreciated and welcomed – ornery or with love, or both!

Best,

campocat

No problem. It is your team. I won’t give unsolicited advice. Just for the record I am a life member of CRCA although they never put it in the records. I am the black sheep of the family. I was at ground zero of the development of the team concept when it was just armbands. I think I was the second on the board in charge of rider development, and coached for the club for two years maybe longer.

I had to write a letter for school so Craig Cook could get credit in gym class. I find the last warm days of fall to be great endurance and pacelineing days that carry me over into the days of rollers and indoor training. I’ll stop now.
