Things happened

It was a moderately busy weekend’s worth of racing, and I am also moderately busy, but I have made time in my moderately busy day to share the results of these races with you.

At the R&A Cycle Series race in Prospect Park on Saturday, Lynn Murray of Dave Jordan Racing was crowned the king of the 40+. Kristin Lotito of Houlihan Lokey won the women’s race. Daniel Perez won the cat 5 race. Results are here.

At the Women’s Woodstock Cycling Grand Prix on Saturday, Lay Kristi won the Pro1/2 race. Susanna Piller of Finkraft won the 40+ race. Nancy Ford of Finkraft won the 50+ race. Cassandra Maximenko of Stan’s NoTubes p/b enduranceWERX won the cat 3 race. Amy O’Connell of Live Love Velo won the cat 4 race. Results are here.

At the CRCA Orchard Beach on Sunday, Dylan Lowe of BH/Comedy Central wont the 2/3 race and Amy Cutler of FCS/Zngine p/b Mr Restore won the Elite Women’s Championship. I know these things through Facebook and by being awesome, but I can’t link to awesome. Link will appear here when it appears. There are pictures though.

Speaking of dumb, 3:23 post criticized masters for “raising a stink” to which the post from 3:32 responded with a joke about old person smell, which is in fact a medical thing. Note that the 3:32 post refers to “we” i.e. the poster is in fact old. Happy to help if you need any other explanations.

...

So 40+ racers now exceed every category except cat 4.

40+ 1-3 is now equal to cat 2 registration.

We done whining about giving the old guys their own race time?

Giovanni Supple

to reg? was it the need for frequent bathroom stops on the way to the computer, their inability to figure out how this darn internet bike registration thingy works or was it their creeky old joints acting up?

Loic Dropout

Any word on the Waffles guy who went head first into the tree? Hope he’s alright. Seemed coherent when I was talking to him on the ground.

Rahway crash victim is still in a coma.

There needs to be more Cat 5 skills clinics. This is getting ridiculous. In 2012 there was the Cat 4 rider who died in Bethel, 2013 the guy at Fair Haven and this year hopefully not the guy from Rahway.

All of these crashes are easily preventable th basic skills. Btw, pretty sure Cycles 54 is unable to put on any more races for the foreseeable future. Such a shame.

William Liner

I agree on the skills clinics…. would be safer for everyone from newbie to Pro.

William Liner

Its not so much that the courses that are dangerous (thought there are “danger areas”), its the riders who make the racing dangerous. Clinics would be a good way to lower some of the crashes caused by lack of skills. As for lack of respect, thats a completely different issue and gets worse closer to the city with all the agro types

That was a fun night.
Great capturing of Tuesday night series at FBF – from the adventure of schlepping out to FBF, all the support and work that go behind the scene to make it a great racing experience. Great job Harry, keep it coming!!!

“So 40+ racers now exceed every category except cat 4.”

That’s more than a little disingenuous considering you’re pooling together the 40+ Cat 1/2/3 and the 40+ Cat 4/5 fields to get there.

Comparing apples to apples, you have 88 riders in those two 40+ fields (neither of which are sold out) compared to 344 Cat 1/2/3/4/5 riders in the non-40+ men’s fields (two of which are sold out). Considering the stink that was raised about how 40+ riders are the only thing keeping the sport in business, you’d think they would comprise more than 20% of the total men showing up to Bear.

Hate Bit+h A++ness

You must be stupid or just plan DUMB. You will get OLD one day DUMB a++ so remember these silly comments you are making.

P.s you OLD AS+ PARENTS had a DUMB a++ CHILD you ….SMELL that.

Lenny Grips

Hater used a lot of acronyms. For those that need a little help, these are the ones I’m aware of:

OLD = Occupying Lower Dimensions
DUMB = Don’t Underestimate My Belligerence
PARENTS = Partially Aware Ruminants Enjoying Naturally Tasty Succulents

Don’t know about CHILD and SMELL

Lars Axle

local racing is technically very easy, people around here call rockleigh a tricky course. we need some local 8+ corner crits for people to gain the skills.

Keano Plug

They do nice clinics at Bethel for Cat 5s, but that is not the answer. What lacks is respect and sanctity of life. i am sure all the clowns crossing wheels on Saturday in PP in a masters race no less knew better, they just did not care.

...

Nothing is wrong, nothing is right. There is no information on the rider who crashed. His family wants privacy.

Evan Fork

Does anyone happen to have results on the P/1/2/3 race @ Orchard Beach this past Sunday. Shouldn’t be that hard since most of the field crashed and/or DNF’ed due to the “we’re not in Kansas anymore Toto” – like Cataclysmic weather conditions. Looked like there were only around 20 finishers out of the 66 starters.

Keano Plug

I know this may start a heated discussion, what do you folks think about about limiting fields in PP to 75. I argue that no mater how skilled the riders are, the competitive urge and the lack of room make 110 limit too large. Or should we accept the fact that crashes happen and reducing fields in PP wont change that.

wheelsucker

I have noticed that races with 75 ppl are much safer than when the number gets over 100. I’d be for it.
