Gulla in a Blowout, Reid Loses Photo Finish

Section head text.

Alex Gulla returned to his winning ways of last fall, jumping away on the second of four laps and finishing solo with a two minute gap. It’s been a while since Alex has gotten away solo, and today’s ride was a reminder of last season’s coming out party. Michael Sherry came within two seconds of bridging, but Alex turned on the gas at the base of Harlem Hill and was out of sight at the top. Sherry would settle into a chase group of about ten, attacking at the finish with Inson Wood to take second for the second week running.

I’m pretty sure those are used shorts, Alex.

Two people picked Alex to win this week, Justin Reid and Jonathan Bloom. Despite my warnings about spelling, Justin put down his pick as ‘G-man’. Still, he could’ve won had his pick for the B field (himself!) sprinted for fifth. Instead, Justin was nowhere to be found as JB’s pick Francisco Liuzzi finished around eighth place. Ironically, both picked Jeff Pellis to win the C’s, which he did.

Why, Daddy, why??

Thank you for sitting up at the end Justin (I was told you got blocked in). I actually thought about choosing Marco in the B’s (today’s winner) considering his 2nd place finish last week in the tough 40+ championship race but didn’t want to go across the grain and not pick my lightening fast teammate Franciso (Cisco).

Thanks to Andy for putting together this contest.
