Stan’s Notubes to Title Great American Cycling Series

January 18, 2012

Cambridge, NY– Anthem Sports, organizers of the Tour of the Battenkill and the Great American Cycling Series, are proud to announce a 2-year agreement with Stan’s NoTubes of Big Flats, NY – producers of innovative tubeless wheel systems – as title sponsor of the new series of classic-style road cycling races and events for 2012 and 2013. The 2012 series includes 5 major events beginning in April with the popular Tour of the Battenkill – America’s largest sanctioned one-day road cycling race. Up to 3000 amateurs and professionals are expected on April 14-15 for the Battenkill event which also includes the Sunday Professional Invitational – a UCI 1.2 event expecting to draw heavily from Europe and North America in 2012. The Tour of the Battenkill drew from more than 40 states and 20 countries in 2011.

The challenging events will highlight the Stan’s NoTubes tubeless technology that suits the characteristic events in the series which often include several dirt road sections. Stan’s NoTubes will feature prominently at the race expos at each event that also will include benefit rides.

Stan’s principal Cindy Koziatek is enthusiastic about the partnership and the participation of the Stan’s NoTubes / AXA Equitable Elite Cycling Team in the series.

“The partnership of the Great American Series and our road tubeless technology is a win-win. The race conditions are renowned for tough challenges for both riders and equipment. The Stan’s NoTubes/AXA team is the first road tubeless team of its kind and has ridden our tubeless road wheels thousands of miles already. We’re looking forward to them participating and the chance to lend support to road racing in the upcoming series with genuine enthusiasm.”

The Stan’s NoTubes / AXA Equitable Elite Cycling Team will feature prominently at the events. Team Director Mike Sherry is happy to be able to highlight the products and the series, including at the Tour of the Battenkill Professional UCI event.

“We’re really excited to be a part of such a prominent race series. We sought out Stan’s products using their adapter kits back in 2010 when preparing for Battenkill’s difficult 200k professional race. We loved the huge improvement in cornering and puncture protection and we’re really looking forward to taking on the new events this year and racing the country’s most challenging road race series with our title sponsor. It’s the perfect opportunity to share the best advancement in road racing technology in quite some time.”

Anthem Sport’s and Great American Cycling Series Race Director Dieter Drake thinks the Stan’s products are a perfect match for the series and would like to see the series grow in coming years.

“This is a great match. With Stan’s NoTubes’ support and enthusiasm, we’ll be able to expand the series into other interesting areas of the US in 2012 & 2013. Stan’s grew up in the mountain biking world where the technology is proven. Their road products are taking off now, and participants racing tubeless in our series will benefit from Stan’s mountain bike legacy on the many challenging dirt road sections that make the events popular. If you’re riding Stan’s tubeless rims, then you’ll have a much better chance of a puncture-free race”, Drake said of the new relationship.

The 2012 event series includes the following events, though additional events may be announced:

Tour of the Battenkill – April 14-15 – Cambridge, New York
Tour of the Dragons – May 5-6 – Bennington & Manchester, VT
Tour of the Catskills – August 3-5 – Hunter & Windham, New York
