NYC VELO announces the addition of Mike Sherry

Mike Sherry has spent over a decade mastering the science of performance cycling, building one of the most respected bike fit, and offering coaching services geared towards endurance athletes. He will be available exclusively at NYC Velo’s 2 Manhattan locations (64 2nd Avenue in the East Village and 590 W 45th Street in Hell’s Kitchen’s Gotham West Market) and at Hastings Velo in Hastings-on-Hudson for pro fittings.sherryhead

Mike’s uncompromising focus on rider comfort, efficiency, and injury prevention has always been at the core of his product. Pro fittings typically take 90 minutes and involve a comprehensive skeletal analysis, foot position, and functional muscle length assessments. The intake data taken from these sessions informs the initial contact point coordinates, footbed recommendations, and cleat set up. Some of the most important benefits of the fitting are the achievement of maximal leverage, power, and efficiency of the rider, reached using high-speed video capture of the session and real world angle-analysis. Each fit session includes a 30-minute follow-up as necessary and a schematic of the final settings for future reference.

In addition to professional bike fitting, Mike also offers in-house physiological testing and coaching services. Whether you’re training to race, ride your first century, or compete in a triathlon, Mike brings over 2 decades of endurance sport experience to his craft. Beginning his career in athletics as a swimmer, Mike moved on to MTB and Triathlon in the ‘90s before ultimately focusing his work on Road Racing and Cyclocross. His extensive experience in so many of cycling’s disciplines and his obsession with improved human performance has brought him great success as an athlete, team director, and coach.

In 2005, Mike partnered with Performance Labs HC, a high-end training and biomechanics service, where he served as its New York Director for 6 years, working on performance systems as a master bike fitter and road cycling coach. He spent the last 3 years as managing director of BIKERIDERS, a premier bicycle concierge service.  During his tenure at both businesses he founded and managed Sherry Sports Mgmt Inc, which operated the Empire Cycling, AXA Equitable Cycling, and Stan’s NoTubes / AXA Equitable Cycling teams from 2006 to 2012. The programs garnered high-profile professional victories and national titles, and helped to develop the next generation of talented young riders.
