Hopeful Friday May 1, 2015

Today is May day, and according to Wikipedia “May Day is most associated with towns and villages celebrating springtime fertility (of the soil, livestock, and people) and revelry with village fetes and community gatherings”. Also on this day in 1776, the Illuminati was founded in Bavaria, but that’s besides the point. What could be more festive and do a better job of celebrating the springtime than sweaty old men and women mashing pedals on their fancy contraptions that cost more than five figures and which vaguely resemble bicycles; rolling around in circles in public parks in one of the largest and well known cities in the world? Lots, but we aren’t going to get to the 33rd degree by screwing, planting or dancing around a pole with some ribbons, no matter how lovely they are.

Sat, there is the CRCA club race in CP and it’s one of those fun “points” races that make you throw up in your mouth every 12-13 mins or so. In Olmsted’s red headed step-park, there is the Lucarelli & Castaldi Cup race to be done.

On Sun, if you were either born fairly recently or you have one foot in the grave, you could do the 2015 New Jersey Masters/Juniors Criterium Championship in NJ or you could head up to a race track of a different kind and do the Lime Rock Cycling Grand Prix in CT. At Kissena, there is the last race of the Lucarelli & Castaldi 6 Days of Kissena #6 series and a big thanks to all who made it happen.

But back to website programing: there is still a problem with the word wrapping in the comment box
