Hopeful Friday April 10, 2015

This weekend is void of the worse religion’s pomp and ceremony and also it’s pre-B*&$kill weekend. This means everyone all over the state is scrambling to get in race miles and test equipment. Team email lists are rife with long discussions regarding proper prep, equipment, tire pressure (the answer is between 30 and 200psi) and tactics. For my team, it’s specifically tactics regarding pre-race “evacuation” techniques because we are super classy. So what’s on the menu?

Sat, there is a CRCA club race in CP. In Newark, there is the 2015 Cherry Blossom Challenge, which is terrible B*&$kill prep and that makes it fantastically fun. Up in Coxsackie (<- you need to click that), there is the Trooper David Brinkerhoff Week #3 race.

On Sun, New Britain is hosting the Circuit de Walnut Hill – Aetna Nutmeg Spring Series. If driving isn’t your thing, head over to Queens for Lucarelli & Castaldi 6 Days of Kissena #4: Ladies’ Day, Hosted by Redbeard Bikes. As the title suggests, this week all women’s entry fees are being covered by Redbeard Bikes in Brooklyn. That’s right, FREE ENTRY TO WOMEN! There are, at the time I wrote this, 15 women in the W4 field. That is practically unheard of for Kissena and that is so damn awesome. The M1/2/3 also has a surprise guest, a euro pro 6 day racer named Christian Kos. Go watch/race/have fun!
