Charlie began racing in 1978 at the age of eight. By the age of 14, he was a Category 2 cyclist. At 17 he competed at the Junior World Championship qualifiers and was second at the Junior National Pursuit Championships. As a 19 year old Category 1 cyclist, he won the televised Tour of the Adirondacks Stage Race. He competed with the U.S. National Team at the Tour of Greece and La Vuelta a Chile. Charlie is a three-time winner of the CRCA Club Time Trial Championships and a two-time winner of the CRCA Team Time Trial Championships. In the local area he won numerous “classics” including victories at the Chris Thater Memorial, Neslte Freehold Criterium, Oyster Bay Cycling Classic, New Britain Criterium, Great Neck Criterium and he was a two-time winner of the New York Spring Series – all in the Pro/Cat 1-2 division. Duringhis racing career he had over 500 top ten finishes. He was the former manager of the elite CRCA/Breakaway Courier Team that featured top riders such as two-time U.S. Pro Criterium Champion Kevin Monahan and Tour of Ireland stage winner Adam Hodges Myerson. He guided the “hit squad” as he called it, to countless victories including four podium appearances at the National Criterium Championships, two overall victories at the Atlantic Cup and a win at the Tour of Somerville. Currently, Charlie is the co-manager of the legendary GS Mengoni USA cycling team and well as the founder of RaceListings.com–online race registration and free race listings.

Charlie I was probably one of the smartest riders I ever competed against in his ability to “READ A RACE” It was absolutely uncanny.
