Trek of Brooklyn

Trek Concept Store in NYC

The Trek Bicycle Store of Brooklyn is the first Trek Concept Store in New York. When you first walk in the most noticable thing is the amount of space in the store. Over 300 bicycles line the floor in double and triple tier racks. They have specific sections of the store for Road, Mountain, BMX, Hybrid, Kids, and Women’s Specific bicycles.

The service center is top notch too. They do repairs on any bicycle and work hard to maintain a 3 day maximum turn around. It features an open air repair area where customers can watch and talk to the mechanics while sitting at the service counter chairs. Or plan their next cycling trip while sitting on the couch in the Adventure Center where a 50″ Hi-Def TV plays cycling footage from around the world. There is a library of cycling related books, maps of the area, and videos to peruse as well.

As far as clothing and accessories go they carry quite a bit. They have the latest designs from Pearl Izumi, Trek, and Nike. They have 20 different models of shoes from Sidi, Pearl Izumi, and Nike. They have 15 different models of Helmets from Giro, Trek, Pro Tec, and SixSixOne. And of course they carry a full line of Bontrager components and Trek branded accessories (bags, pumps, racks, etc).

The staff is very knowledgable (especially about Trek products) and they are comfortable with outfitting road racers, mountain bikers, kids, and commuters alike. They also offer financing for new bicycle purchases and do custom bicycle fittings.

Bicycle prices start at around $300 and extend to $8,000

Bicycle brands carried are Trek, Gary Fisher, Lemond, Klein, Mirraco BMX, and Dahon.

The average cost of a tube replacement is $11.36

They offer delivery services on new bicycle purchases and repairs.

If it were a lot closer to where I live I’d go there every weekend. Other than that it’s a pretty nice shop. The description is right it is a really big store. A lot of lower end sub $500 bikes. The staff were pretty knowledgeable (I should hope so with just a few brand lines to memorize). I test rode a Madone in my size and they showed me a sneak peak of the 2009 products coming out. The even had a Lemond Tete in my size that was 3K more expensive at Bicycle Habitat (according to Habitat’s website). I like them so far and I hope the do well.
